The Daily will fail because it is not any better than USA Today’s, The Wall Street Journal’s, Wired’s, or ANY of the other magazine/newspaper’s apps.
If I have to see a spinner for more than 10 seconds I will close your app. If I have to see one for more than 20-30 seconds I will never reopen it even if I paid for it.
Reading is meant to be instantaneous. Just like something going from being Free to Paid doesn’t fell right, taking 30 seconds to start reading a book you own doesn’t feel right either.
Who gets it right? Reeder gets it right. Whenever I open the app there is always something available for me to read instantly while the remainder download quickly in the background.
Do it like Reeder or fail.
