The Verizon iPhone is launching for current Verizon customers on Feb 3rd and I will not be one of the people in line to get it. I have an iPad and I am addicted to it so don’t call me an Android fanboy when I tell you that the number one reason I don’t want the new iPhone is because of my Android phone. It’s not because Android (2.2) is better than iOS (4.2), because technically its not, it’s due to the fact that Google makes Android and as such keeps it ahead of the iPhone when it comes to Googley type services.
Amongst all the things that Google does well Gmail is probably still my favorite and the new Priority Inbox being a recent addition to Android seals that deal. Priority inbox has now made checking/getting email on my phone bearable. Google filters and labels are awesome, yes but they take work to keep up to date with all the new ways that you give out and people get your email. Priority Inbox starts making this process a whole lot easier. It takes a few days for it to be taught, with an easy click here and there to vote up or down an emails importance. When Google sees an email that it thinks is not supposed to be important to you it pushes it out of the Priority Inbox and at the same time does not ping your Android phone with a notification for this email. This keeps me from constantly pulling my phone out of my pocket only to see that I have a new offer from the Home Depot.
Until the Verizon iPhone get’s this feature and takes off its new network training wheels it’s not for me and might not be for you either.
